The department undertakes fundamental research within the Division of Field Experiments. In addition to its own experimental work, it utilizes the especially long series of results from the Division‘s own long-term experiments. It provides databases for the acquisition, updating, archiving and protection of data from these long-term experiments, including innovative in-house methods. Mathematical and statistical data evaluation forms the core of its work for research projects as well as exploratory analytical solutions . Data analyses help determine basic interactions of agrosystem elements (environment, vegetation) and influence of fertilization (nourishment) on: production dynamics; soil fertility progression; soil nutrient balance; sowing succession and soil treatment effect on plant nourishment; sowing procedure productivity; and the quantification of various technological production factors with respect to long-term sustainable production.
